Gibbs, Abby, & the IRS

Dear John,

Let's get the bad news out of the way first: I do owe the IRS $7000. State and Federal taxes were withheld when we cashed in the annuity two years ago, but they didn't withhold enough. So I transferred the money from savings to checking tonight. (God bless on-line banking!)

Now for the good news: It's Tuesday, so it's NCIS night here. Abby finally talked to her brother - you know, the one she hadn't known about - and all is well and everybody happy. Gibbs pushed her to do it because she was having autopsy nightmares again. It was a wonderful show. We've been waiting what - two years? - for that bread crumb to be picked up. I love that show.

And I'm so glad you liked it, too. I was always surprised when we liked the same television shows. Every time I found one that I liked, I was a bit scared to have you watch it. But you even liked the HGTV shows that I did. And we had a good time watching them together. You taught me about golf and I taught you about the color wheel. That might not sound like fun to most people, but it was to us. Just being together was fun; it didn't matter what we were doing.

But we've said all this before. And the important part  now is that I'm grateful to have enough money in savings to pay the IRS, and Abby and Kyle are enjoying getting to know each other. So it's a good night all the way around. I have tax bills and Jen has car bills. We both melted down a bit today, and figured out that we'll make it if I get this job. So that is your job for now: Please keep praying for me! Feel free to pray about anything you want to, not just this job. I know there's a lot of me that needs prayer, and you know me better than I know myself. I pray for you, too, like I have for 38 years.

Love you, pray for you, miss you,
Joan.
